Renewal of the collaboration between the Bodossaki Foundation and Fondation CHANEL for the promotion of gender equality and the empowerment of women in Greece

The Bodossaki Foundation announces the renewal of our partnership with Fondation CHANEL to promote gender equality and women’s empowerment in Greece.

The new three-year cycle of collaboration between the Bodossaki Foundation and Fondation CHANEL succeeds the Capacity Building Programme for Civil Society Organizations active in the field of gender equality in Greece, which was launched by the two Foundations in 2023. In the new cycle of collaboration, the programme is extended to support, through two open calls, up to 27 Civil Society Organizations active in these areas in Greece:

1st Call:

  • Organizational Development Grants. The call will provide two years of support to organisations that demonstrate readiness to upgrade their organisational capacity. In addition, grantee organisations will receive a targeted Capacity Building programme from Social Dynamo, the Bodossaki Foundation’s NGO Hub.

2nd Call:

  • Capacity building and small-scale grants. The call concerns the capacity building of small and medium-sized Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) active in these fields and includes a tailor-made 5-month Capacity Building Programme, delivered by Social Dynamo. It also includes the provision of small-scale grants to the participating CSOs, in order to consolidate their effectiveness and foster activities promoting gender equality and/or women’s empowerment.

More information on the calls and the application deadline will be announced soon by the Bodossaki Foundation.

During the first cycle of the Bodossaki Foundation – Fondation CHANEL collaboration, the initiative supported 15 Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) to promote gender equality and women’s empowerment in Greece. As a result, more than 2,700 people benefited directly and more than 11,000 indirectly. At the same time, the 15 organizations had the opportunity to participate in a specialized Capacity Building Programme, designed and implemented by Social Dynamo, during which the organizations acquired the tools and skills to enhance their social impact and become more sustainable.

The Bodossaki Foundation and Fondation Chanel continue to support the promotion of gender equality and the empowerment of women in Greece. With Greece ranking 25th among the 27 member-states of the European Union, according to the European Institute for Gender Equality (EIGE) report for 2024, a decline compared to the previous year, the need for such initiatives is clear. At the same time, the Bodossaki Foundation has documented the need for support across the country for the organisational development of smaller organisations active in the field of gender equality.

For the Bodossaki Foundation, the promotion of gender equality and the empowerment of women in Greece is of primary importance, as it is an integral part of its vision for a society of equal opportunities and prospects for all. It has also supported Greece’s General Secretariat of Family Policy and Gender Equality and has taken initiatives to promote gender equality in the workplace. In addition, the Bodossaki Foundation participates as a member and co-funder in the Alliance for Gender Equality in Europe, the first network of European organisations (especially Foundations) aiming to promote gender equality in Europe, which offers opportunities for funding, training, networking and synergy between key actors in the field of philanthropy.

Fondation CHANEL supports the freedom of women and girls to shape their own destiny. Over the last 12 years, it has developed a highly effective philanthropic approach which has directly impacted over one million women globally. The Foundation believes that those closest to the issues are best suited to developing the solutions. This guiding principle is reflected in the Foundation’s long-term relationships with partners as well as its offer of support to strengthen their operational capacity and amplify their voices. Fondation CHANEL has actively pursued partnerships in Greece since 2017.
