PNOE addresses the critical issue of domestic violence against older women in rural communities, where geographic isolation, limited resources, and cultural norms present significant barriers to seeking help. The project’s primary objective is to empower local communities and enhance the capacity for a unified approach among key stakeholders, such as frontline workers and social welfare services. PNOE adopts a multifaceted approach that includes raising awareness, educating community members, empowering older women, and strengthening social support services. Key activities involve training over 150 individuals, including 15 representatives from civil society organizations (CSOs) and social service professionals, to identify and effectively respond to cases of abuse using state-of-the-art (SOA) tools. Additionally, the project will develop protocols and tools to facilitate safe and anonymous reporting of abuse cases.
Target Groups:
The main target groups of the project are: Vulnerable groups in rural areas, particularly in the Troodos region; older women experiencing domestic violence; community members and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs); social welfare professionals and social workers.
