The “ELEVATE HERight” project addresses the pressing challenge of GBV against migrant women in Cyprus, exacerbated by insufficient access to support services for survivors and at-risk populations, linguistic barriers, a systemic lack of awareness regarding rights and the topic of GBV more generally, and socio-economic vulnerabilities. The project’s primary objective is to prevent and combat GBV in migrant communities through a multifaceted approach that includes: facilitating access to relevant services via a comprehensive desk service based on collaborations with service providers and a database of services; raising awareness about GBV within migrant communities through targeted campaigns; and fostering community and empowerment among migrant women via tailoring workshops that incorporate GBV education.
Target Groups:
Beneficiaries of the project are migrant and refugee women aged 18 and above from Sub-Saharan Africa, the MENA Region, and Asia, including asylum seekers, students, and domestic workers at risk or survivors of GBV. The project also targets the broader migrant community and relevant local stakeholders, aiming to influence attitudes towards GBV and promote gender equality.
