Promoting education is a strategic priority for Bodossaki Foundation and the Scholarships programme is one of its earliest programmes. To date, more than 2,700 scholarships have been granted to assist outstanding students, either in their final year of studies or graduates, to follow postgraduate, doctoral and postdoctoral studies in Greece or abroad, in the academic fields of their choice.
The Scholarships Programmes for the academic year 2026-2027 include Scholarships for Postgraduate Studies, Postdoctoral Research, and Visiting Scientists Researchers:
- The Regular Scholarships Programme (for postgraduate studies)
- The “Stamatis G. Mantzavinos” Memorial Postdoctoral Scholarships Programme
- Scholarship Programme for Visiting Research Scientists active in Greece, enabling them to undertake a scientific visit of up to 6 months at universities or research centers abroad.
In 2026 the Regular Scholarships Programme completes 54 years of continuous support to young people hoping to pursue the studies of their dreams. The application period for the 54th Scholarships Programme for the academic year 2026-2027 ends on 24.2.2026. The Programme is addressed to graduates or final year students from all Faculties and Departments of the University Sector of the Universities of Applied Sciences. The Foundation’s scholarships are now joined by scholarships funded by individuals who have been inspired by the Foundation’s vision and the dreams of young people and wish to see them become a reality. Thus, two (at a minimum) of the scholarships that will be awarded this year for postgraduate studies in the field of Medicine/Biomedicine are ‘Elizabeth Fotiou Fotinelli – Ioannis Dimitriou Kritikos Scholarships’.
As part of the ‘Stamatis G. Mantzavinos’ Postdoctoral Research Scholarships Programme, the Bodossaki Foundation, in line with its goal of promoting scientific research, announced for the 19th year running the award of four postdoctoral scholarships for the academic period 2026-2027. Four (4) scholarships for research in Greece or abroad over a period of two years will be granted to PhD holders, with the possibility of an extension of one more year. The deadline for submitting nominations ends on March 17, 2026.
With the new Scholarships Programme for Visiting Research Scientists, the Bodossaki Foundation is providing still greater support for scientific research, addressing research scientists, graduates of Higher Educational Institutions still studying or active in Greece and wishing to visit foreign university institutions or research centres in order to conduct research into scientific methodology, modern international research trends and technologies, or present and deliver lectures. The ultimate aim of the programme is for the experience and knowledge acquired to be transferred and disseminated among the Greek scientific community. The programme covers short-term scholarships, lasting up to 6 months, including accommodation and travel expenses. Applications will be close on March 31, 2026.
Τhe Academic Fields covered by the Scholarships
The Bodossaki Foundation’s goal is to support young scientists who wish to contribute to the world of tomorrow with their work and ideas. The fellowships cover a broad range of contemporary academic fields—from biomedical technology, molecular medicine and bio-innovation to machine learning, artificial intelligence, nanotechnology and natural resource management—, as well as the management of businesses, institutions and non-profit organizations.
Candidate Profile
Academic excellence is a key criterion in our candidate selection process, but not the only one. At the heart of the Foundation’s philosophy is a commitment to supporting equal opportunities in access to education. Consequently, as a criterion, our evaluation of the young candidates’ financial wherewithal carries the same weight as their performance. The personality of the candidates is also evaluated in tandem through a one-on-one interview.
All programmes are planned, implemented and monitored by Bodossaki Foundation. The selection process takes place in accordance with the criteria set by Bodossaki Foundation and in line with its core principles of operation: transparency, accountability and integrity.
The eligibility requirements for a scholarship are set out in the annual notices. The Scholarships Committee and the Scientific Committee are two specialised Foundation bodies responsible for preparation and dissemination of the notices, selection of the best candidates and recommendations made to the Foundation’s Board of Directors, who make the final decisions regarding the scholarships.
