Applications for the Bodossaki Foundation Scholarships Programmes are now open!

Scholarships for Postgraduate Studies, Postdoctoral Research, and Visiting Research Scientists

In the realm of astronomy, Paraskevas applies data science while pursuing postgraduate studies in Physics & Astronomy at the University of Amsterdam. In Oxford, Lydia dreams of contributing to the development of innovative, personalised medicines, bridging the gap between academia and industry. She is currently pursuing her postgraduate studies in Precision Cancer Medicine at the University of Oxford. Ioanna aspires to contribute to the early diagnosis of metabolic and neurodegenerative diseases. She is now undertaking postgraduate studies in the Molecular Basis of Human Diseases at the Medical School of the University of Crete.

What connects Ioanna, Paraskevas, and Lydia?

All three applied for a Bodossaki Foundation scholarship around this time last year and achieved their goal.

The 2024 scholarship recipients have already started realising their dreams, which, although diverse, stem from a shared passion for progress and knowledge. Applications for the 2025 scholarships and the next round of fulfilled dreams begin today.

With over 50 years of experience in awarding and managing scholarships, the Bodossaki Foundation continues to accept and manage resources from third parties, organisations, and other foundations as part of its Scholarships Programmes. These partners, inspired by the Foundation’s example, wish to offer scholarships as well.

Private donors, who recognise the Bodossaki Foundation as the most suitable channel for giving, also support young people in achieving their academic aspirations. This year, two scholarships for postgraduate studies in the field of Life Sciences are provided as part of the ‘Elizabeth Fotiou Fotinelli – Ioannis Dimitriou Kritikos Scholarships’.

The 53rd Postgraduate Scholarships Programme, with a submission deadline of February 17, 2025, is open to graduates or final-year students from all Schools and Departments of Higher Education Institutions. It covers the following scientific disciplines and fields:

  1. Fundamental Sciences: Applications of Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics
  2. Life Sciences: Biology, Targeted Drug Development, Biomedical Technology and Bioinformatics, Regenerative Medicine, Molecular Medicine – Cell Therapies & Bio-innovation
  3. Applied Sciences/Technology: Digital Technologies, Machine Learning & Applications, Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Data Analysis, Environmental Sciences, Natural Resource Management, Geosciences
  4. Social Sciences: Business Administration, Management of Organisations and Nonprofit Entities

The Postdoctoral Research Scholarships Programme, in memory of Stamatis G. Mantzavinos, has supported postdoctoral research since 2008. It offers four scholarships for holders of doctoral degrees to conduct research in Greece or abroad, with an application deadline of March 17, 2025.

The Scholarships Programme for Visiting Research Scientists is being implemented for the third consecutive year. It provides short-term scholarships of up to six months for researchers active in Greece who wish to enrich their research and study international developments by visiting academic institutions or research centres abroad, bringing this knowledge back to the Greek scientific community. Applications close on March 31, 2025.

The latter two programmes cover the disciplines of Fundamental Sciences, Life Sciences, and Applied Sciences/Technology.

“For 53 years, the Bodossaki Foundation Scholarships have been supporting the dreams of young people and advancing the Foundation’s vision of a society of equal opportunities, with prospects for all. We are especially pleased that the Bodossaki Foundation’s scholarships are increasingly becoming a channel for donations for private individuals, organisations, and other foundations wishing to support young people in pursuing their studies,” says Athina Dessypri, President of the Bodossaki Foundation.
