Bodossaki Foundation, as co-funder and coordinator, in partnership with the NGO Support Centre (Cyprus), announces the launch of the project “Preventing gender-based violence and violence against children” (PREVENT), with a total funding of €2.3 million that will support civil society organisations (CSOs) in Greece and Cyprus.
PREVENT is co-funded by the European Union, through the Citizens, Equality, Rights, and Values (CERV*) 2023-DAPHNE programme, and by Bodossaki Foundation and NGO Support Centre. PREVENT aims to prevent and combat gender-based violence (GBV) and violence against children, by supporting Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) active in these fields, in Greece and Cyprus, and by increasing their knowledge, capacity and sustainability.
During the 3 years of its implementation, running from February 2024 to January 2027, PREVENT will support approximately 37 CSO projects (28 projects in Greece and 9 in Cyprus) through a single open call for proposals consisting of 2 themes. The themes will address the prevention and combating of gender-based violence and the prevention and combating of violence against children.
More specifically, the call aims to provide financial support to organisations for the implementation of information and education activities to prevent and combat gender-based violence, violence against children and gender stereotypes. At the same time, it aims to support advocacy, research and support activities for people who have been subjected to violence. The individuals/groups that will benefit from the project are mainly CSOs, people who have experienced gender-based violence, children who have experienced violence, frontline professionals, as well as policy makers at national and European level, the media and the general public. More information on the call and the deadline for applications will be announced shortly.
The project will also offer a comprehensive capacity building programme, tailored to the needs of CSOs in Greece and Cyprus, to promote their organisational development and sustainability, with the overall purpose to contribute to building a robust and democratic civic space in Europe. The capacity building programme will be implemented by Social Dynamo, the NGO Hub of the Bodossaki Foundation, in collaboration with the NGO Support Centre.
