Principal Research/Consultant at the Tavistock Institute Germany (TIG) and its parent organisation, the Tavistock Institute of Human Relations (TIHR)
Kari P Hadjivassiliou is a Principal Research/Consultant and co-lead of its extensive EU research and evaluation portfolio of work at the Tavistock Institute Germany (TIG) and its parent organisation, the Tavistock Institute of Human Relations (TIHR). Before joining TIG/TIHR, Kari was in ICF where, as a Technical Director, she was responsible for research and evaluation projects in the fields of European education, skills and employment policies.
In total, Kari has over 28 years of experience in international comparative research and evaluation experience in the fields of employment and labour markets, including new forms of employment (e.g., atypical forms of employment) and ways of working (e.g., remote working/teleworking); education and training systems, including VET, apprenticeships and traineeships, and human and social capital development, including lifelong learning, workforce skills development/upskilling, e-and learning across the EU.
Over the years, Kari has managed a large number of projects in relation to European education and training, skills and employment policies across the EU. For example, she led the first EU-wide study on traineeships/internships in all 27 Member States which informed the European Quality Framework for Traineeships, adopted by the EU Council of Ministers in March 2014. More recently, she was the project manager for Cedefop’s EU-wide study on the economic and social costs of low skilled adults which informed the European Commission’s current Upskilling Pathways initiative. In 2018-19, she was one of the four experts selected by the European Commission to conduct a study and advise on options for future development of the Youth Guarantee, the EU’s flagship youth employment programme. The results of this study informed the European Commission’s current Reinforced Youth Guarantee programme.
Kari, a Bodossaki Foundation scholar, holds a BA in Business Administration (Piraeus Graduate School of Industrial Studies, University of Piraeus) and a MSc in Industrial Relations and Personnel Management (London School of Economics – LSE). Between 2007 and 2019 she sat on UK Evaluation Society (UKES) Council. She is a member of the European Professional Women’s Network (EPWN), the International Alliance of Women (IAW) and City Women’s Network, where in the 2000s she sat on its board and was chair of its marketing committee.
