Jaf Anglal! Empowering school participation of Roma children

Call: Enhancing awareness & understanding of EU rights and values
Project Duration: 10 months
Budget: 59.969,07€
Country: Greece
Location: Central Macedonia (Dendropotamos, Pavlos Melas, Pelekas Katerini)

The project ‘Jaf Anglal! Empowering School Participation of Roma Children’ aims to champion fundamental European rights, with a specific focus on the right to education in three Roma communities in Central Macedonia (Dendropotamos, Pavlos Melas, Pelekas Katerinis). In these communities, children’s right to education is often compromised due to pervasive anti-gypsyism and systemic challenges in Greek society. The project centers on fortifying the roles of parents and teachers in supporting children to stay engaged in the educational framework. Simultaneously, communication and awareness activities will be conducted for the general public, aiming to challenge stereotypes and discrimination, thereby reshaping the narrative around the marginalization of the Roma community.

Target Groups:

Direct target group: Roma parents and primary education teachers in the schools of the three active communities.

Indirect target group: Roma students, children and students of the beneficiaries’ parents and educators, and the general public.
